Today the longlist was revealed for the Book Illustration Competition 2019, organised by The Folio Society and the House of Illustration. This year’s book was Howl’s Moving Castle by Dianne Wynne Jones. Three illustrations and a binding design are the requirements for entry, my submissions are shown here (with an added Dog-Man 🙂 ). With such a rich book for inspiration, this project was an absolute joy to work on in the winter evenings. It has brought me closer to my hand-drawn illustration roots and I will continue to incorporate cross-hatching shading and watercolour in my future illustrations.
