It was a beautiful weekend in the East of England and I took full advantage of the sun to do some drawing outside in the garden.
I get asked a lot about how I am able to create amazing shading with a biro. The answer is to achieve amazing shading, I use the best quality art paper. In this case I was drawing on the Hahnemühle FineArt 140gsm Sketch Pad. The grain of the paper makes pens and pencils glide much more effectively and I’m able to apply pressure to achieve different tones without impressing on the next page.

I don’t often draw in pencil, so this was a lot of fun to christen my new sketch pad with a EE pencil drawing of a knight in armour.
I’m waiting for the next sunny day so I can do some painting; with all the vibrant dahlias in the garden at the moment I’m not short of inspiration!
